Eat Smarter, You May Live Longer
Food – it has the power to nourish us or to destroy us.
So how can we best harness nutrients so we can improve our health span and our lifespan?
Did you know?
Eating late at night is linked with poorer sleep and health?
In fact, people who eat a lighter meal in the early evening are more often in better health than those who eat later in the evening or partake in snacks during the night.
In addition, fasting after an evening meal until it is time to rise in the morning gives your body a chance to recover and your sugar levels to settle. It may also help to shed some extra pounds.
Enjoy your heavier meal during the day when you are burning the most energy.
When you eat is as important as what you eat.
In addition, a recent study found:
The timing of your supper (last meal before bed) can reduce breast/prostate cancer risk by up to 20%.
Recommendations:
Waiting 2 hours to sleep following your evening meal
Avoid late night eating and snacking
“Compared with subjects sleeping immediately after supper, those sleeping two or more hours after supper had a 20% reduction in cancer risk for breast and prostate cancer combined”.
The study included data from 1,205 breast cancer cases, 621 prostate cancer cases, and 2,153 healthy adult controls.
